So now I am finally managing to log on in the evenings I am back with a vengeance! Blogging galore people! My first post back is a Top Ten Tuesday which is hosted over at The Broke and the Bookish!  This week the topic is Top Ten Wishes I’d Ask The Book Genie to Grant Me!

Top Ten Wishes I’d Ask The Book Genie to Grant Me!

  1. Dear Book Genie, please can I have more time! Please! Or the ability to stop time so I can read all of the lovely books sitting on my TBR pile! I just want an evening where I can sit down and read books that have been sitting there for months, the only reading I have done recently has been books I have had to read for my course or that I have been lent by people and had to give back!
  2. Dear Book Genie, please can I have the ability to perform an Undetectable Extension Charm so I could turn my wardrobe into this library but with really bright colours, lots of big bean bags and cushions and a two floors of books with a slide that goes down the middle into a giant ball pit in the centre of the room…libraryball pit
  3. Dear Book Genie, please can I have a Jace of my very own…

city of bones

4. Dear Book Genie, please can I have a copy of the Illuminae Files by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

5. Dear Book Genie, please can I meet Jenna Moreci and write in a room with her whilst she is writing…hope her dark side and taste in music helps me to write a really awesome death scene!

6. Dear Book Genie, please can I have a fictitious dinner party with the Doctor, Sherlock, Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman, Sam and Dean Winchester, Magnus Bane and Roger McGough. Can you imagine the conversation?

7. Dear Book Genie, please pay my library fine…pretty please?

8. Dear Book Genie, please can I have a new book from David Nicholls.

9. Dear Book Genie, please can I have a few external hard-drives so I can stash all of my computery stuff on them and don’t have to keep deleting things.

10. Dear Book Genie, please can I have a book group!! I really want to join a book group so I can gush over books with other people who like gushing over books!

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Fictional Crushes

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish starring a particular theme.

toptentuesday

This week’s topic is a freebie, so I looked through the Top Ten archive to find topics I have missed and chose Top Ten Fictional Crushes, which I think will be really difficult as I fall hard for book boyfriends! I will try to narrow them down to ten… (I had to limit this to Young Adult books because otherwise the classics’ boys would have stolen lots of the places…Mr Darcy anyone? Edward Ferrars? Need I go on? )

1. Jace from The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare

city of bones

I think Jace was one of the first book boyfriends I ever had, or at least the first one I can remember. The cover of City of Bones might have helped!

2. Wolf from Scarlet by Marissa Meyer

scarlet

3. Thorne from Cress by Marissa Meyer

Cress

4. Zach from the Gallagher Girls series

cross my heart

Another early book boyfriend who will always be in my heart! <3

5. Aaron from the Fallen Series

6. Dimitri from the Vampire Academy Series

7. Logan Quinn from the Mythos Academy series

touch of Frost

8. Gabriel from the Academy series

introductions

Or Luke. Or maybe North? Seriously, picking one book boyfriend from this lot is impossible!!

9. Augustus Waters from the Fault in our Stars by John Green

Fault in our stars

10. Magnus Bane from the Mortal Instruments/Infernal Devices World

Bane Chronicles

Ok, just to finish up, a Book Boyfriend that I fully expect to belong to this list in the future, but I have only read three chapters of this book, as it hasn’t been published yet…

Jason Valentine from Eve: The Awakening. if you would like to fall in love with this literary hottie before everyone else, you can read the first three chapters for free here.

That’s all from me!

Link me up to your Top Ten Tuesdays and I will come and check them out. Do any of these men feature on your list of book boyfriends?

Review: The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

Fault in our stars

From Goodreads

Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel’s story is about to be completely rewritten.

My Review

I do not want to watch the film. I think it would spoil the utter perfection that is this book. It is 1.23 am, my eyes are swollen, my skin is blotchy and I am in love with Augustus Waters, Hazel Grace and John Green.

This is the reason I am glad I don’t give five stars to all of my books, I keep them for the really special ones!

Go, read this book. Don’t do what I did and let it sit on your shelf unread because you didn’t trust the hype. The hype is totally undeserved- this book isn’t about two kids with cancer who fall in love. This is a book about two teens who fall in love, find the lack of meaning in their lives, get pretty angry at the universe, get pretty philosophical towards the universe and then break your heart. See? Much, much worse! And far better!

Update: One day later and I still can’t stop thinking about Hazel and Augustus. I have a major book hangover, I can’t read anything else!

“Thats’s what HE said” Thursday: Gabriel to Sang from House of Korba

“That’s what HE said” Thursday is hosted by chapterbreak.net. Every Thursday you post a favourite line from a book boyfriend to the heroine (wishing he was saying it to us!).

House of Korba cover

So I think I have already gushed about how much I love the Academy boys from the Ghost Bird series by C.L. Stone, but I have to dedicate this weeks’s TWHST to Gabriel. He is just brilliant, and I am currently rereading the books just to find all the funny Gabriel quotes! This one is from the House of Korba and Gabriel is just brilliant in it, plus I have a real weakness for boys that can make me laugh!!

So here it is:

“Oh my god, what the fuck. She even sneezes cute?” Gabriel was looking at me over the top of the car when I lifted my head. His mouth was hanging open and part of the blond lock of hair fell away from the russet brown. Some strands flew into his mouth and he spit the hair back out and raked his fingers through to fix it. “Come on Trouble. let’s go before you start farting bunnies and rainbows or some shit.”

Teehee! I love how straight up and honest he is about what he is feeling but he also really cares for Sang! So let me now if you liked my “That’s what HE said” Thursday quote, link me to yours and I will check it out! Oh, and read the Academy books if you haven’t already, they rock!
